Mr. Kim is a well-known farmer in the Korean community who produces delicious Korean pears, white peaches, sweet grapes and sticky corn that reflect nostalgia for the flavors of our birthplace. He has been running the 600-acre Evergreen Farm in Hamilton Township off Route 130 for the past 20 years.
A child of an orchard farmer, Mr. Kim came to the United States in 1984, at the age of 34. Despite initial economic hardship, he fulfilled his American dream of success by transplanting his family business of growing Korean fruit trees to American soil.
He is not only a role model of the American dream for businesses but also an example in how he contributes to the community. Every year, he runs the “Pear Blossom Festival” in April and the “Feast in Honor of the Aged” in September. At these events, almost a thousand people, especially older visitors, come and enjoy free food, entertainment and gifts of various fruits and vegetables from the farm.

김종일 대표는 한국인 입맛에 딱 맞고 고국의 정취를 느낄 수 있는 맛있는 한국배, 백도, 포도 및 쫄깃쫄깃한 찰옥수수 등을 재배하는 이 지역에서 잘 알려진 늘푸른농장 대표입니다. 김대표는 지난 20 년간 뉴저지 해밀턴 타운십에 600 에이커 규모의 농장을 운영 해오고 있습니다.
과수원을 운영하시는 아버지 밑에서 자란 김대표는 1984 년 34 세의 나이로 미국에 왔습니다. 초기의 온갖 경제적 어려움에도 불구하고 아버지가 운영하시는 본국의 농장에서 들여온 좋은 품종의 한국산 과일들을 이곳 미국의 비옥한 토양에 이식함으로써 좋은 결과를 거뒀고 그로 인해 아메리칸드림을 실현했습니다.
김대표는 아메리칸드림의 롤모델 일뿐만 아니라 지역사회에 기여하는 훌륭한 모범이 되는 분이기도 합니다. 그는 한인사회를 배려하는 뜻에서 매년 4월에는 “배꽃축제”를, 매년 9월에는 대규모 무료경로잔치를 열어 인근 지역의 천명이 넘는 어르신들께 음식을 대접하고 다양한 공연뿐만 아니라 과일, 야채 등을 선물로 나눠드립니다.
